Course Duration

This course is delivered over 20 weeks + 6 weeks of holidays.

Classes are rostered for 2½ days per week (20 hours per week).

Students must successfully complete the following units:

  • BSBWOR203B Work effectively with others*
  • SITHIND201 Source and use information on the hospitality industry*
  • SITHIND301 Work effectively in hospitality service
  • SITXCCS303 Provide service to customers
  • SITXCOM201 Show social and cultural sensitivity
  • SITXFSA101 Use hygienic practices for food safety*
  • SITXHRM301 Coach others in job skills
  • SITXWHS101 Participate in safe work practices*
  • SITHFAB101 Clean and tidy bar areas
  • SITHFAB201 Provide responsible services of alcohol*
  • SITHFAB202 Operate a bar
  • SITHFAB203 Prepare and serve non-alcoholic beverages*
  • SITHFAB204 Prepare and serve espresso coffee*
  • SITHFAB303 Prepare and serve cocktails
  • SITHFAB307 Provide table service of food and beverage

Note: *Units that are delivered at Certificate II level


Recognition of Prior Learning / Work Experience

Recognition is available (on application) to students with prior skills, experience, knowledge or qualifications obtained from formal studies or training, in a related area. Recognition may reduce the duration of your studies.


 Government Funding

Stanley College has a strong network of employers waiting to hire our graduates. Students will have access to employment assistance services including advice and tips on resume preparation, coaching on interview techniques and assistance in finding employment.


Further Studies

On completion of the Certificate III in Hospitality, students may pursue a Certificate IV in Hospitality at Stanley College  or other Government registered education providers.
