Professor Mark Israel

Academic Expertise
Mark has extensive experience in higher education governance. In 2019, he was appointed Dean Learning and Teaching, College of Science, Health, Engineering and Education, Murdoch University. He was a professor at Flinders University and then Winthrop Professor at the University of Western Australia.
Mark provides advice to public and private higher education institutions and government organizations in Australia, Hong Kong, New Zealand, Taiwan and the United Kingdom.
He is a Principal Fellow of the Higher Education Academy, a Fellow of the Academy of Social Sciences and a Fellow of the Royal Society of Arts, all in the United Kingdom.
Mark also received the Australian Prime Minister’s University Teacher of the Year award in 2004.

Dr Beatrice Tucker

Beatrice held the position of Associate Professor, as the Director of the Curtin Learning Institute and is currently Manager of Evaluation and Academic Standards. She has led and participated in numerous national and institutional learning and teaching projects. She has been integral to the development, validation, implementation and evaluation of two evaluation systems across a university. She has also developed and embedded Teaching Excellence at Curtin, a framework outlining criteria and standards for academics, university teaching and learning quality frameworks and has been responsible for professional learning for staff, the Scholarship of Teaching and Learning, Learning Spaces and the educational guidance and support at all levels for academic staff at Curtin. Beatrice is also a physiotherapist who has specialist skills and knowledge in cardiopulmonary physiotherapy science. She is actively involved with the Australian Medical Physiotherapy Councils in accreditation and assessment activities. Her research publication areas include the evaluation of teaching and learning, University Teaching Excellence Criteria and Standards, undergraduate sources of stress, cardiopulmonary science and its clinical education

Professor Phil Hancock

Business Discipline Expertise
Phil Hancock is Professor of Accounting and Associate Dean Learning and Teaching in the Faculty of Arts, Business, Law and Education at the University of Western Australia. Phil has been involved in a number of nationally funded learning and teaching projects and is joint leader of the project Achievement Matters: external peer review of accounting learning standards which has been operating since 2011. He has published widely in accounting and accounting education and is an Associate Editor of the Journal of Accounting Education. He is a Fellow of Chartered Accountants Australia and New Zealand, CPA Australia and the Accounting and Finance Association of Australia and New Zealand (AFAANZ). In 2006 he received a national Carrick Institute citation for Outstanding Contributions to Student Learning and in 2013 received an award for outstanding contributions to accounting education by AFAANZ.

Dr Michael Connor
Vice-President, Higher Education
Michael’s career has spanned both academia and industry. Having taught and researched at Deakin, Murdoch, and the University of Melbourne, and worked in Corporate Communications, he joined the Division of Strategy, Management & Organization at Nanyang Business School (NBS) in Singapore. He became active in consulting and executive development in a variety of industries across the Indo-Pacific region, and on leaving NBS he was Communications Director of its Office for Executive Education. Returning to Perth, he helped establish Murdoch University’s Executive Education Centre. He then embarked on an entrepreneurial venture, whilst continuing to work on learning and development projects, mainly with AIM+UWA Business School Executive Education and the WA Public Sector Commission. Michael is currently Director of an ICT start-up of which he is co-founder, and of a new media organization (Western Australasia Media Network). His research interests are in value networks and work-integrated learning.

Dr Michael Wong
Michael has established a teaching career in Perth for about ten years. He moved from Singapore to pursue a doctorate at the University of Western Australia (UWA) where he developed his teaching experience. Upon graduation from UWA, Michael continued to pursue a teaching career in the higher education as well as vocational education and training (VET) sectors. Throughout his teaching tenure at various registered training organizations (RTOs) and a higher education institution, he has further assumed managerial positions as course coordinator providing student support. Michael joined Stanley College in March 2015 as a trainer for the Advanced Diploma of Management program. He later was appointed as the Acting Head of School Higher Education, to assist in planning and implementing the development of higher education courses for Stanley College. In March 2018, Michael assumed the role of Registrar, overseeing Stanley College's registration matters. Michael is also a current Professional Member of Association for Tertiary Education Management (ATEM).
